What is a CSA?
CSA is an acronym for Community Supported Agriculture. CSAs provide the opportunity for individuals to support local farms on a more personal and active level. CSAs provide an alternative food network model for buying directly from a farm. There are several different types of CSAs including vegetable CSAs, flower CSAs, and (our favorite) meat CSAs.
How does the Broadview Ranch CSA work?
Individuals, couples and families in the Washington DC, Roanoke, Richmond, Lexington and Northern Virginia area are invited to select a share that fits their needs. Shares will take the form of an automatic monthly payment with the dollar amount depending on the size option you choose. Once a month you will be asked to place a cooler on your stoop or porch. Delicious and all natural grass-fed Broadview Beef, forest-fed Pork, and free-range eggs will be delivered to your door.
What are the benefits of the Broadview Ranch CSA?
Consumers benefit from CSAs on multiple levels. CSAs grant consumers easy and consistent access to Broadview’s delicious and healthy products. Consumers do not have to worry about placing a new order every month or picking up their product from a central location, making this option perfect for busy individuals or families. By maintaining a consistent monthly relationship with Broadview, customers and their families have more opportunities to get to know the Broadview farmers and feel personally invested in their food. CSAs also allow consumers the opportunity to try new cuts of meat, since the packages will vary in composition from month to month. They will receive delicious recipes and cooking ideas from Broadview so they will never be left with a cut they don’t know how to prepare.
Simultaneously, Broadview benefits from CSAs. The consistency of the monthly payments from CSA customers allows Broadview to spend less time worrying about sales and more time concentrating on their animals and customer service. The ranch can also provide its customers more special offers and better prices because it will have more reliable information and resources to use when determining its production and pricing methods.
When can I join?
Our meat CSA operates as a year round subscription CSA. Therefore, you can join anytime of the year! Again, while your subscription is not binding, we ask that you join with the intention of being a regular CSA customer for at least six months.
Where do you deliver?
We have home delivery to certain zip codes in Washington DC, Roanoke, Richmond, Lexington and Northern Virginia.
Click here to see if we currently offer delivery in your area. If home delivery is not offered in your area, click here to view our pickup locations where we would be happy to meet you monthly.
How do I pay?
We ask that you pay by credit card (Visa or MasterCard). We will automatically draft your credit card each month unless your request to skip a month or leave the program.
Can I order a smaller share for a single person?
We suggest splitting a share with a friend, neighbor or coworker if the smallest share remains too large for your needs.
Can I visit the farm?
Yes! Not only do we enjoy having visitors, we firmly believe it is very important for people to be educated on where their food is coming from! We do ask that you email or call ahead in order that we can arrange a personal tour. We also have several open farm days throughout the year that all of our CSA customers are personally invited.
