No. Broadview Ranch will provide a cooler with each delivery. We will send the delivery day notification on the Monday before the subsequent Saturday or Sunday delivery and on the morning of the delivery. The notification will remind you to set out your cooler so we can retrieve the cooler each month. Failure to set the cooler out for return will result in a $25.00 FEE. Please make sure that we have your CURRENT e-mail address and phone numbers. If we are not able to retrieve our cooler at the cancellation of a subscription we will bill your credit card for the amount of the cooler.
No. A typical order will fit in a standard freezer.
Broadview Ranch is a “farmer’s choice” CSA, meaning that we pack each cooler based upon what meats are ready for harvest that month. It’s really the only way to run a sustainable farm. We think you will be very happy with the variety of meats we provide.
We do not pack by the pound but by the servings provided. As a rough guideline, families with no children or only young children usually find their order lasts more than a month and so take an every-other-month delivery. Families with 2 or more teenage children usually need an order every month. But your needs will depend on how many times you eat at home, whether you balance your meats with adequate vegetables and fruits, and your cooking style.
No. Your meats are delivered in a cooler which will hold the meats in a frozen state for 24+ hours. We will leave it at your front door if you are not at home when we deliver.
We currently deliver to the Lexington and Roanoke areas. However, we maintain lists of interested folks in all areas. Each cooler is filled with a variety of vacuum-sealed cuts of grass-fed and finished beef, pastured and forested pork and free range chicken eggs, our monthly newsletter, which reports to you the state of the farm and the art of the kitchen and nutrient-rich living. In your first delivery, you will also receive Tender Grassfed Meat: Traditional Ways to Cook Healthy Meat,which guides you through the cooking of naturally-raised heritage meats.
No, once you are a subscriber by paying the $35 annual Home Delivery fee, you are free to choose which month you take or decline your meats. Charges are only applied when you take a delivery. To skip your delivery you must notify us by 3 PM on Thursday of the delivery week if you would like to skip your regular delivery. We plan our deliveries route and schedule based on the count that we have at that time.
