Parelli Play Day & Mock Tournament Overview

The Parelli Play Day & Mock Tournament was a wonderful opportunity for those studying Parelli Natural Horsemanship to get together with others, have fun and develop their skills. Thirteen horses came to play, all but one participated in the mock tournament.

There was a wide range of skill levels and types of horses. All did a fabulous job. Every single horse was very successful performing the tournament tasks (pdf) and yet it was definitely challenging.

Lots of toys and obstacles were set up in the playground area. In addition to the variety of jumps and logs on the cross country course, there were tarps, a slalom course, cones, a question box, barrels, ditches, logs, a water jump, round pen, free-jump and other obstacles set up for lots of free play.

Some participants came on Friday and camped until Sunday. That gave them an opportunity for lots of trail riding and well as the tournament. Hopefully more riders will do that in the future. We can only offer primitive camping i.e. parking in the field (port-a-john and water spigot available), but we would love for more people to take advantage of a weekend of riding.

At the lunch break there was a demo of the free-jump. Carol Atwood and Susan Richardson asked Maggie, Zeb and Grayson to help show everyone how the free-jump is used. Susan and Grayson finished the demo by jumping bareback and bridleless. After lunch anyone who wished to had a opportunity to try the free-jump with their horse.
