Open for Riding DaySaturday, June 30th 2007 Originally Broadview was scheduled to hold Penny Ross's VA Horse trial but she decided to cancel. Suddenly faced with a prepared facility and no event, we decided to 'switch gears' and host an Open Riding and Fix-a-Test Day. Thirty-one horses came for our Open for Riding Day and Dressage Fix-A-Test. The weather was lovely, with fluffy white clouds hiding the sun all day. The cross-country course, stadium jumps, trails, and dressage area were well used. It was a pleasure to see participants utilizing the cross country obstacles for ground work skills as well as riding skills. Many riders ended their day with a pleasant trail ride. What is a Fix-A Test? Participants ride a dressage test, then the judge works with the student to improve their ride. Finally the student rides the test again while the judge "scores" the test as she would in a competition. Lucy Eddins was a delightful dressage instructor/judge. Horses and riders improved right before our eyes, and smiles were abundant. We hope that she will return for future events. The day went great except we forgot to take many pictures.
