Beagling 03-11-07From BroadviewRanch.com
Rockbridge Hunt Beagling with Octorara BeaglesSunday, March 11th, 2007 Beagling at Broadview was a great success. Larry Bright and his wife Debbie brought the Octorara Beagles from Floyd County. This was joint meet sponsored by the Rockbridge Hunt. The weather was beautiful and over 30 people, including many juniors, attended. Lots of rabbits got their exercise and the terrain was such that the field could really see the hounds work. Four or five rabbits were viewed and more than that were run. The first bunny jumped up right as we started ran back across the paddock , into the cross country field, up past the shop, into the lane in the horse pasture, up the lane and eventually into the brush pile in the old trench silo. During this run the beagles were in full cry and right together as a pack. Very exciting. What an excellent pack of hounds! The beagles continued to find and ran several rabbits from the Upper Barn to the same brush pile. After the hunt we enjoyed a potluck dinner in the log lodge. We certainly hope the Brights will come again. VideoHere are a couple of videos taken during the hunt. They aren't very long or well editted but they will give you a feel for how the beagles work and sound.
